Vale Gavin Carter, a treasured member of the PALS family for over thirty years

Updated: 6 days ago

It is with deep sadness that we farewell one of our most beloved community members, Gavin (Gav) Carter.

A memorial service was held on Monday 13 April at the Uniting Church in Numurkah, where family, friends, and the many people whose lives Gav touched came together to celebrate a truly remarkable man.

Gav was a longstanding and much-loved member of the PALS community for over 30 years. During that time, he built strong connections with staff and fellow residents alike, becoming a familiar and deeply valued presence in the home at Nelson St.

Those who knew Gav will remember him as a man of real character, strong in both body and mind, charming, and blessed with a wonderful sense of humour.

His laughter was contagious, the kind that filled a room and made ordinary moments feel special. Gav valued connection, routine, and the relationships he nurtured over decades. He brought familiarity, comfort, and so much personality into his home, and those who had the privilege of supporting him are all the richer for it.

Gav was also a talented painter. His incredible artwork was a window into the gentle, creative soul that made him so special, a reminder that there was always more to Gav than met the eye.

He will be remembered for his strength, his heart, and for the lasting mark he left on the PALS community.

Rest peacefully, Gav. You were loved and you will never be forgotten. The entire PALS family extends our deepest condolences to Gavin's family and all who held him dear.
